Rates of diabetes have nearly tripled in the U.S., and more than doubled worldwide since 1980, according to a report this week in the British journal Lancet. More than 347 million patients have diabetes globally, and nearly 25 million in the U.S.

The case against a Rochester woman arrested while videotaping police has been dismissed.
Early Monday afternoon, demonstrators rallied outside the Hall of Justice in support of Emily Good, the city woman who was arrested while videotaping police officers during a traffic stop on May 12th in front of her 19th Ward home. (Click here to watch the video)
Good kept recording police officers while standing in her front yard even though an officer ordered her several times go inside. She was charged with obstructing of governmental administration. Since then, the video from that night has made it onto news shows across the country.
Good's attorney, Stephanie Stare, had asked for the charges to be dismissed. In court Monday, the District Attorney's office says based on a review of the evidence, there was no legal basis to go forward. The charge was withdrawn and the judge dismissed the case.
A joint statement issued by Mayor Tom Richards, City Council President Lovely Warren and Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard says they support the decision of the District Attorney's Office to dismiss the charges against Good. Click here to watch the video of Chief Sheppard's statement.
The statement says whatever the specific circumstances that led to Good's arrest, they see no purpose in pursuing the criminal charges.

Defenders of Islam call it a "religion of peace" but many Norwegian women are learning that Islam is the religion of rape. According to an amazing police report released there this month, every single solved case of assault-rape in the country in 2010 was carried out by a Muslim immigrant.
The report was cited by an official Norwegian television station, which interviewed a victim who said that her rapist explained to her that his religion permits him to rape her.
According to the police report there was a total of 186 of known rape cases in 2010. These fall into various categories, the largest one of which is assault-rape, carried out by sheer physical force, of which there were 86 cases. In 83 of these cases the perpetrator could be identified by the victim. In all 83, the attacker was described as having "non-western appearance," a laundered euphemism for Muslim immigrants from Africa, the Middle East, or Asia.
In other categories of rape there were Norwegian attackers as well, but they were still in the minority (Note: the translation of the Norwegian TV report embedded here does not make a distiction between "assault rape" and other forms of rape, and appears to confuse the statistics for 2010 with those for 2006-2010).

For more than thirty years, Edwin Vieira, Jr., has practiced law, with emphasis on constitutional issues. In the Supreme Court of the United States, he successfully argued or briefed the cases leading to the landmark decisions Abood v. Detroit Board of Education, Chicago Teachers Union v. Hudson, and Communications Workers of America v. Beck, which established constitutional and statutory limitations on the uses to which labor unions, in both the private and the public sectors, may apply fees extracted from nonunion workers as a condition of their employment.
He has written numerous monographs and articles in scholarly journals, and lectured throughout the county. His most recent work on money and banking is the two-volume Pieces of Eight: The Monetary Powers and Disabilities of the United States Constitution (2002), the most comprehensive study in existence of American monetary law and history viewed from a constitutional perspective.
He is also the co-author (under a nom de plume) of the political novel CRA$HMAKER: A Federal Affaire (2000), a not-so-fictional story of an engineered crash of the Federal Reserve System, and the political upheaval it causes.
His latest book is: How to Dethrone the Imperial Judiciary... and Constitutional "Homeland Security," Volume One, The Nation in Arms.
We first met Dr. Vieira at our Casey Research Boca Raton Summit and were sufficiently impressed to want to hear more, and to share more, of his work with readers of The Casey Report.

DAVID: Before kicking things off, I'd refer readers to Dr. Vieira's in-depth and excellent paper, "A Cross of Gold," as that provides a more detailed analysis on how the corrupt U.S. monetary system might transition into something more honest and effective.
Getting started, from a big-picture perspective, technically speaking, is the current U.S. monetary system actually constitutional?
EDWIN: Well, technically speaking, factually speaking, legally speaking, no. In a word, no.
DAVID: Why not?
EDWIN: There are two levels to consider. First, there's the straight currency level – what is supposed to be the official monetary unit. Then there is "other," which I distinguish as different from the official monetary unit because the Constitution doesn't prohibit private parties from creating media of exchange for their own uses, as long as those media of exchange are non-fraudulent and they're operated in an otherwise honest commercial fashion.
But the official unit of currency is supposed to be the dollar, and I'll tell you exactly what a dollar is – it's 371.25 grains of silver in the form of a coin. That was determined as a historical fact in 1792. Actually the dollar was adopted before the Constitution was even written. It was adopted by the Continental Congress under the Articles of Confederation, the so-called Spanish milled dollar, which was the actual unit that was circulating then, because there had been essentially no coinage under the various colonial regimes in colonial America. So that's the dollar unit.
AND
EDWIN: And yet they allow for it. Now, either this is the biggest bunch of idiots that has ever been assembled in judicial robes in the history of humanity, or there's some other agenda going on here.
DAVID: Assuming that they are not complete idiots, what could that other agenda be?
EDWIN: In my view, and I've written about this for years, the people at the top levels of government understand that their monetary system is inherently flawed. That we're on the Titanic, in a sense, and they know that this ship is going to sink. They don't know when, but they know when it sinks, they're going to have a huge amount of economic dislocation, social crisis and civil unrest to the level of revolt.
So they started developing this police state mechanism in the hopes of keeping the lid on the garbage can when the monetary system breaks down. The upper echelons of the judiciary have been going right along with this because they know what the program is. This is obvious. No one in his right mind would stand by and allow the sort of excesses we’ve seen.
Just the other day, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled that the Fourth Amendment doesn't apply at all because you can sue the police after they've mistakenly broken into your home. But when they break into your home and they kill you, then what?
DAVID: Not a lot of recourse then.
EDWIN: Right, like that poor ex-marine that was shot 60 times in Arizona, and he's dead – now what, can he bring a lawsuit? Have we lost our minds? I mean, you don't have to be a Harvard-educated lawyer to know that this is insanity. This does not rise to the level of just mere error. No one in his right mind can write these kinds of opinions, which means that either they're insane, which I don't believe, or they have another agenda, and the judicial opinions are simply camouflage – they're propaganda to convince us that "Oh well, this is all right" because Judge Flapdoddle told us that it's all right.
Judge Flapdoddle- everyone knows these liars because we all have them. Lying filthy scum hiding behind what most consider an exalted black robe. They are just men who, like the rest believe themselves "Only Ones", who allow citizens to be "Whacked & Stacked" which is a mockery and brought us to "Injustice Everywhere". For those that doubt this, I remind you of "Project Gunwalker" wherein the plan to "walk" guns into Mexico was actually a cover to further eviscerate the 2nd Amendment and now, those that planned, approved, and watched have the blood of not just Mexicans, but Americans- Border Patrol Brian Terry and Ice Special Agent Jaime Zapata.

The Federal Trade Commission recently appointed a British government agent to a senior management position, raising serious concerns about the FTC's commitment to US sovereignty and the increasing role of unelected foreign antitrust regulators in restricting the property rights and economic liberties of American citizens.
On June 22, the FTC named Dr. Alison Oldale as deputy director for antitrust in the agency's Bureau of Economics. Dr. Oldale, who is not a US citizen, is currently the chief economist for the United Kingdom's Competition Commission (UKCC). According to a UKCC press release, Dr. Oldale will be "on a year's secondment" – in effect, on loan to the FTC – and she is expected to return to UKCC after completing her service in the US. The FTC's press release on Dr. Oldale's appointment did not disclose this.
Dr. Oldale joined the UKCC in 2009 after working as a director at LECG Corporation, an international consulting firm that provided expert testimony in antitrust litigation. LECG employees were frequent participants in FTC policy workshops, and David Scheffman, a former LECG director, served twice as director of the FTC's Bureau of Economics. LECG ceased operations earlier this year.
President Barack Obama has launched his $1 billion dollar re-election campaign for the White House, so he can finance creative methods to attack GOP presidential contenders. Accordingly, he’s spreading rumors that Texas Gov. Rick Perry is a so-called puppet of a leftist globalist community that is intent on one world government with the United Nations taking the reins of power. Obama is hoping these rumors can keep Tea Party members from supporting Perry if he receives the Republican nomination.
Here’s an example of an Obama-instigated conspiracy theory about Gov. Perry on the InfoWars.com website, “every indication suggests that Bilderberg-approved Texas Governor Rick Perry is set to become the frontrunner in the Republican race to challenge Barack Obama for the presidency, illustrating once again how a shady, secretive and undemocratic global elite holds the reigns of true power while Americans are distracted by the delusional notion that they have a genuine choice in 2012."

How about this article by Mr. Perry from 2007?
The governor’s mandate of the HPV vaccine is indicative of a man who has lost touch with the citizens of our state.
As reported in DallasBlog.com, Merck’s Gardasil (HPV) vaccine already has been under fire nationally from the National Vaccine Information Center, which claims that “Merck’s clinical trials did not prove the human papillomavirus vaccine designed to prevent cervical cancer and genital warts is safe to give to young girls.” NVIC cites the trial studies as showing there were serious problems with adverse reaction to the shots: “Nearly 90 percent of Gardasil recipients ... followed-up for safety reported one or more adverse events within 15 days of vaccination, particularly at the injection site. Pain and swelling at injection occurred in approximately 83 percent of Gardasil” recipients. A majority of the young women who received Gardasil complained about “serious adverse events such as headache, gastroenteritis, appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, asthma, bronchospasm and arthritis,” according to NVIC.
This vaccine is very questionable and has not been in use long enough for there to be a comfort factor with many parents. What will it do to growing bodies long term? I am not opposed to vaccines in general, but the governor can count me as a one dissatisfied constituent on this one.
At best this move is irresponsible, at worst, it reeks of the odor of quid pro quo like some of the governor’s other moves. Why was the legislature circumvented by the executive in this case? The legislature had just now convened and had not had time to even visit the vaccine issue in full. A rational person should ask the question, just what was promised to the governor here?
Will big pharma dollars now back the governor’s future aspirations? A vice presidential nomination seems to be being talked about in Austin. The taxpayer- and property owner-hostile, foreign profiteer-backed Trans-Texas Corridor also comes to mind; Cintra-Zachary would no doubt love to keep the governor on the friends list. Why is it necessary to legislate away normal state and federal constitutional protections to build a road, Guv? It appears large interests can have all the friends they can afford, especially in Texas.
While the governor’s picked committee on appraisal reform came forward with a few decent suggestions concerning spending limitation, the overall report was at best anemic. They did not address the imbalances in the appeal process, for instance. In meetings all over the state I hear taxpayers suggest moving lesser dollar appeals to the JP courts. The governor’s committee proposal suggesting the appointment of Central Appraisal District representatives by the district judges and calling them “taxpayer representatives” would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. All over the state, Texans called for at least some members of both Appraisal and Appeals Boards to be popularly elected. I know that some members of the committee were people of good will, but a reasonable person could wonder how stacked the committee was with the governor’s own cronies.
The arrogance over the vaccine issue seals it. The governor must be impeached.

The five nuclear experts killed in a plane crash in northern Russia earlier this week had assisted in the design of an Iranian atomic facility, security sources in Russia said on Thursday.

As part of eTrace expansion, ATF continues to provide training to Mexican and Central American countries to ensure that the technology is utilized to a greater extent.[3] Colombia and Mexico were provided with their own in-country tracing centers with full access to ATF firearm registration records. In Colombia, a joint ATF-CNP Center for Anti-Explosives Information and Firearms Tracing (CIARA) opened on December 6, 2006.[4] In Mexico, The National Center for Information, Analysis and Planning in order to Fight Crime (CENAPI) was established in 2003. ATF states these are models for planned future tracing centers throughout Central and South America and the Caribbean Basin.[5] In December, 2009, ATF announced deployment of a Spanish version of eTrace to Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica. A planned second phase will release the software to all Spanish-speaking countries with agreements with ATF. In June 2011 congress opened an investigation into project gunrunner against the ATF, as some ATF agents have come forward stating that top heads in ATFE and the Department of Justice instructed the agents to encourage gun stores in the U.S. to sell assault-style weapons to Mexican firearm traffickers.

The new rules were quietly announced Friday with a new memo from top officials at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The "prosecutorial discretion" memo says officials need not enforce immigration laws if illegal immigrants are enrolled in an education center or if their relatives have volunteered for the US military.

The most damning revelations coming out of the hearings on Operation Fast and Furious held by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform are the unmistakable indications that the program was never designed to succeed as a law enforcement operation at all.
A quartet of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents and supervisors turned into whistleblowers to bring the operation down, but only after U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was gunned down in the Arizona desert. Two of the weapons recovered at the scene of Terry's murder were traced to the operation.
Fast and Furious, also known by the more accurate "Gunwalker," allowed known straw purchasers to buy large quantities of firearms — often a dozen or more semi-automatic rifles — at a time with the full knowledge of ATF agents and executives. The guns were then smuggled into Mexico, as frustrated front-line ATF agents watched, under strict orders to do nothing.
ATF agents testifying in front of the House Oversight Committee could not explain how the operation was supposed to succeed when their surveillance efforts stopped at the border and interdiction was never an option.
ATF Agent John Dodson, testifying in front of the committee, said that in his entire law enforcement career, he had "never been involved in or even heard of an operation in which law enforcement officers let guns walk." He continued: "I cannot begin to think of how the risk of letting guns fall into the hands of known criminals could possibly advance any legitimate law enforcement interest."
The obvious answer is that Gunwalker's objective was never intended to be a "legitimate law enforcement interest." Instead, it appears that ATF Acting Director Ken Melson and Department of Justice senior executives specifically created an operation that was designed from the outset to arm Mexican narco-terrorists and increase violence substantially along both sides of the Southwest border.
This past weekend, both David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh pointed out that their sources were supported by the WSJ report that Melson is likely gone and today, CNN reported the same on the Web and on the air:
Washington (CNN) -- Kenneth Melson, acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is expected to resign under pressure, perhaps in the next day or two, in the wake of the controversy over Operation Fast and Furious, two senior federal law enforcement sources said Monday.
Now, people may get all excited, but they should not beyond the fact that one criminal MAY be down and further proof and testimony is needed to finish this work that so that the States, or Congress can charge, impeach and then the Senate tries Barack Hussein Ombama for high Crimes.

MISSION — Drug smugglers opened fire on U.S. law enforcement officers Sunday morning near the Anzalduas International Bridge after Mission police intercepted a 500-pound load of marijuana, police Chief Leo Longoria said.
U.S. law enforcement officers shot back, Longoria said, and no injuries were reported. Details remained hazy Sunday afternoon, and Longoria couldn’t give further information about the brief shootout.

Six police units, several more from the Department of Public Safety and a Border Patrol helicopter were called to assist. As the pickup fled, a green Chevrolet Avalanche with a young woman behind the wheel began harassing officers, Longoria said.
"She went head-on toward a police vehicle," Longoria said. "We're trying to see what her intent was, but obviously it was a very reckless action on her part."

I knew I had forgotten to mention another story from down on the Lower RGV this week and that is the son of the Mayor oh Pharr, Texas was popped at Falfurrias with 114 POUNDS of dope in his trunk.
FALFURRIAS — Federal agents arrested the Pharr mayor’s son after they found more than 114 pounds of marijuana inside his vehicle.
U.S. Border Patrol arrested Leo Palacios III after he pulled up to the Highway 281 checkpoint south of Falfurrias about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint. After a secondary inspection, they found the pot stashed in his Mercedes E320 sedan’s trunk.
Palacios, who lives in Austin and is son of the Pharr mayor of the same name, claimed he was in the Rio Grande Valley on business.
“I did not know anything about this,” the mayor said. “All I know was that he was arrested for possession. He hasn’t called me or anything.
Agents say they were about to release Palacios from the checkpoint when he started moving his car forward slowly.
Agents tapped the side of his car and waved their hands while telling him to stop, the complaint states. Other agents yelled at him to stop and he finally complied.
A drug dog alerted to the trunk of Palacios’ car and agents asked him to move it to secondary inspection. Palacios asked the agents why he needed the inspection, saying he didn’t see the dog do anything. Another agent commanded him to move the car to secondary and Palacios complied.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (R-AZ) released a statement yesterday after listening to the Operation Fast and Furious hearings. She is not a happy camper - nor should she be given the impact of Project Gunwalker on her state.
It is a good thing that Governor Brewer is angry over this, but like the first comment at SSI, my thoughts at first when I read this is when is she going to get angry at the police forces in her state and their atrocities?

For those who have been paying attention, the Gunwalker conspirators' cover-up has been reduced to a tattered piece of underwear that wouldn't cover Weiner's little wiener.
First, the testimony of the ATF agents at the hearing today demonstrated that there was no "sting", thus there could not have been a "botched sting." What there was, it seems, was a program to encourage straw purchases and smuggling, but no "sting" by any known meaning of that word. Which begs the question, why? Issa, nettled by Cummings' complaints of a "political agenda" responded by asking if the entire purpose of allowing large numbers of weapons into Mexico didn't itself serve a political purpose? Meaning, of course, further restrictions on American firearm rights. Precisely.
Mike Vanderboegh and David Codrea truly deserve heaping praises for their tenacious grip since last December. It was they and the boys at CleanUp ATF that got the ball rolling and are closer and privy to much more information than I and why I want everyone to go read their posts, especially today's from MVB in regards to the Project Gunwalker hearings.
I watched over lunch to see so much fecklessness by certain representatives, Suckass and Lacy to name two, is angering and if you watch, you will understand my earlier post. However, I want to point out two things from this afternoons hearings- one was Blake Farenthold's suggestion about PRIVATE viewing of documents and then Issa's offer at the end of today's hearings about REDACTION. As a follow up to Monday’s hearing on a government program intended to track Mexican drug cartels, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee continues its inquiry today.
The Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) program “Operation Fast and Furious" allowed gun stores near the Mexican border to sell semiautomatic weapons in bulk to "straw purchasers" as a way to track Mexican drug cartels. Many of the guns were linked to crimes, including the killing of a Border Patrol agent.
Chair of the Committee, Darrell Issa (R-CA), and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released a report on “Operation Fast and Furious," which says border patrol and ATF agents were told to "surveil" weapons and not interdict. It also said agents warned of devastating consequences, including criminal activity, but supervisors ignored their warnings.
Issa just told Ronald Weich: "So felony stupid it got people killed!"
This was after listening to the Weasel Reich's opening statement about being so helpful and Representative Issa held up at least a half dozen pages that are fully redacted.
Then that Suckass Cummings (yes SUCKASS) apologizes for the whole committee and Issa verbally slapped him.
I do not know if I can continue to watch this crap much longer as I am too pissed.

EAST OF EDINBURG — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a roadway shooting death involving several men with long-barreled firearms — possibly assault rifles — and a torched vehicle.
The shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and authorities were called to the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 2812 and Uresti Street in connection with a firefight involving at least three separate vehicles, Sheriff Lupe Treviño said.
"When we arrived, we find one white pickup parked on side of road with one person having been shot multiple times," Treviño said. "A quarter-mile or less east of that location, we find a vehicle on fire."
"Additionally, on his own transport, a man arrived to a McAllen hospital with a gunshot wound."
While the investigation is on its preliminary stages, apparently one vehicle overtook the white pickup and opened fire, causing the truck to go off the road.
The vehicle that was burned is being considered a suspect vehicle because authorities believe that three suspects set it on fire right before they left.
Witnesses said the three men ran north, toward brush. Sheriff's Office K-9 units were being used to track the men down.

Companies Oppose Endangered-Species Tag for Lizard, but Brace for Its Listing

The dunes sagebrush lizard, while just five inches long, is causing a big ruckus in the oil patch.
The federal government is considering whether to put it on the endangered species list, with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service arguing that oil and gas development in the Permian Basin, a rich oil-producing area in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico, is destroying parts of the lizard's home, a unique sand dune ecosystem.
The oil industry says the listing of the Sceloporus arenicolus would bring economic ruin.
"This is the most prolific oil-producing region in onshore America," said Ben Shepperd, president of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, an industry group in Midland, Texas. "If you are to knock out a big portion of that, it clearly would drive prices up at the gasoline pump."

At least three suspected drug runners were wounded in a shootout with U.S. law enforcement officials this morning in the Rio Grande just south of Abram, according to sources.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said, U.S. law enforcement officers participating in a multi-agency Texas Ranger Recon operation were fired upon from Mexico while attempting to interdict a large drug load, officials said in a news release from the state agency. An exact location was not given.
DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said she couldn’t disclose whether any U.S. officers from the three participating agencies —Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, U.S. Border Patrol and Texas Rangers — were struck or injured. She said the agents came under "heavy fire" but would not say how long the ensuing shootout lasted.Waiting to hear more from some friends down there and will see what I can post on this later, but have been told that the Mexicans fired 100's of rounds.

Just received this update - Mexicans tried to get drugs back south, Texas Rangers (DPS) attempted stop of Drug Dealers/Mules. Mexicans fired upon them- both DD's and from across the river. TR's return fire and TP&WL assisted. Border Patrol arrived in River Boats and aided by dumping a whole lot of rounds south. None of our men hurt.
Found a curious entry in the stats this afternoon and considering the origin location, (Switzerland), the time frame (Bilderberg's are meeting in St. Moritz), and the fact that each link in my post about the UN Agreement was accessed- and am wondering.

Since the end of both, I estimate that roughly ninety-five percent of gun owners, Constitutionalists and professed Liberty Lovers I have spoke with (along with everyone else) about these events has denied the truth of this.
