Now, I could have completely rewritten the pertinent question, but the E-mail that was forwarded to me (I will not break the forwarder's request for anonymity) said it best:
"Why is the Army Reserve engaged in the collection and reporting of intelligence from an "Army Admitted" Peaceful Demonstration?"Further the writer of the original E-mail (again, I will not break the forwarder's request for anonymity) states:
From the Testimony of LTG James R. Helmly, Chief, Army Reserve Department of the Army before the House Armed Services Committee, subcommittee on Total Force, United States House of Representative, regarding Reserve Component Issues on March 31, 2004,Now, how and where in this mission statement do peaceful demonstrations, that are protected under the First Amendment, that occurr at buildings which do not belong to either the Army or Army Reserve, fall? Should this not be considered ANOTHER violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and Federal Intelligence Guidelines?
"The Force Protection program within the Army Reserve is designed to provide security and preparedness to meet the full spectrum of threats facing Army Reserve facilities and stand-alone facilities worldwide. The program is an integrated set of five security activities: physical security, anti-terrorism, law enforcement , information operations, and installation preparedness."
Summed up and quite simply asked, since when did the reason for being, for the United States Army Reserve. become DOMESTIC SPYING?
