"GOV. Pataki proved he's a fiscal conservative after all the other night - at least when it comes to tipping bartenders. Our spy reports that Pataki and his wife, Libby, bought a cocktail and a soda during intermission of "The Valkyrie" at the Met Opera. Pataki paid his $17 tab with a $20 bill. "He thought about it for a while, then left a $1 tip and pocketed the other two bucks," sniffs our source, who happens to be a bartender himself. "You'd think that the governor, of all people, would leave a better tip than that."

Yes, but it was his two dollars!
